The Small Micro Enterprise Promotion Service (SMEPS) with GTZ support undertook a revealing a mysterious study of Yemen\'s ancient Incense sector.

Although rumors of Frankincense forests were common the accuracy of these reports have not been verified ……at least not until now.

In deed during the course of the study Bedouins along the Yemeni-Omani boarder (Dhofar range) assisted the SMEPS team in unraveling the secrets of the mysterious and majestic Yemeni Frankincense tree.

The study found that Bedouins laden with Incense regularly cross the harsh mountainous areas into Oman where they receive higher prices for their precious Frankincense resin.

In addition the study looks closely at market development opportunities for Incense from the Island of Socrota (both Frankincense and Dragon Blood resins).
